The Labour Court recommended changes to Mangans Brothers Limited (Ennis)'s proposals in a dispute involving 30 general operatives, in a recommendation signed on 4 March 2003. It recommended a seven-year pay scale from €6.65 to €8.70 an hour. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claims covered permanent posts, safety consultation, office cover, canteen facilities, pay, a Christmas bonus and sick pay. The Court also recommended changes to the bonus offer, including up to four extra days' pay based on service, but did not recommend paying sick leave for the first three days of illness. It said the recommendation had to be considered as a package.
