The Labour Court did not recommend a seven-weeks-per-year redundancy package sought for welders at Crown Equipment, finding that no redundancy situation existed at the company at the time. The recommendation was signed on 21 February 2003. The Amicus-Aeeu sought the package if the company could not guarantee manual welding work. Crown Equipment said its welders had long carried out both manual and robotic welding, it had no redundancy plans and it would discuss matters with the union if a redundancy situation arose. The Court recommended that the company give the union as much notice as possible if a redundancy situation arose in future.
