The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union accept Dis Enbi Limited’s inability-to-pay case for outstanding Programme for Prosperity and Fairness increases, with the position reviewed after three months. The recommendation was signed on 19 February 2003. The union’s claims also covered lost shift allowances and transfers of three workers from the Chemical Mill. Dis Enbi said its financial position threatened its ability to continue trading if it paid the increases. The Court recommended accepting the conciliation proposals on the allowance and transfers, saying they were as much as could be expected in the circumstances.
