The Labour Court recommended a €400 overtime payment and two extra days of annual leave for each of 29 workers affected by Ucd’s move of its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from Ballsbridge to Belfield. The recommendation was signed on 13 February 2003.
The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Amicus MSF sought €2,000 per worker for cooperation with the move and the disruption. Ucd opposed compensation, citing public service policy and the circumstances of the relocation. The Court did not recommend compensation for the relocation itself, but said an improvement on Ucd’s offer was justified for additional work and restricted leave. The measures were recommended as a one-off.
