The Labour Court recommended renewed local discussions on Garda admissions to Tralee General Hospital, a three-month audit, changes to the seclusion room and nurse training to national standards. The recommendation was dated 20 January 2003. The Southern Health Board and the Psychiatric Nurses' Association (Pna) were in dispute over admissions under Garda escort. The union sought to direct them to St Finian's Hospital, Killarney, saying Tralee's facilities and training were inadequate. Management rejected the proposals.
