The Labour Court recommended that Beamish & Crawford raise bottling operators’ basic pay to €555.69 a week from 3 December 2002, in return for their full cooperation with management’s changes. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought a €170 weekly increase after a higher-capacity bottling line was introduced; the company had offered €20 a week. The Court noted that the company accepted the changes were radical and warranted a significant pay increase.
