In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Bank Of Ireland's final offer be accepted in a dispute over planned changes to confidential waste disposal that would end porters' related overtime work. The Bank proposed a buyout based on twice each affected porter's overtime and tea allowance earnings during the 12 months to 30 April 2002. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union rejected the offer and sought to protect the overtime earnings for all eight porters. The Court said the offer was in line with normal standards in similar situations. Its recommendation was signed on 26 November 2002.
