In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Sheridan Precast Ltd offer a worker a redundancy payment equal to four weeks' pay per year of service, inclusive of statutory entitlements. It also recommended an additional week's pay after the employer acknowledged giving three weeks' notice when four were due. The worker, a sales assistant/storeman who began in 1992, lost his job when the company closed in July 2002. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union also sought holiday-pay arrears; the Court recommended paying any arrears due, with disputes over the amount to be resolved through procedures under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. The recommendation was signed on 11 November 2002.
