Labour Court recommends Roscommon Council recognise holiday-pay agreement

The Labour Court recommended that Roscommon County Council accept that an agreement had been reached to include overtime in holiday pay, and that the parties discuss how to apply it. The recommendation, dated 24 October 2002, followed a dispute with Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over outdoor staff’s holiday pay. The union said the agreement was reached in March 2001, with only the calculation method unresolved. The Council disputed that an agreement existed and argued that overtime was excluded under working-time rules. The Court said correspondence gave the union reason to believe its claim had been conceded and showed the calculation method remained outstanding.
