In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Irish Sugar PLC make €1,600 available to craftsmen represented by the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union after changes to staffing at the General Store in Carlow. Irish Sugar said craftsmen only entered the store to identify parts and were not asked to take on the storeperson's operational work. The Court said the craftsmen should have been informed about the planned change. The recommendation was signed on 21 October 2002.
