The Labour Court recommended redundancy terms for employees of Anglo Irish Beef Processors based on 19 months' pay, exclusive of statutory entitlements, for 25 years' service, pro rata for more or less service. The recommendation followed a rehearing and was signed on 11 October 2002. The Court did not recommend extending the six-month lay-off period or adding an exceptional-circumstances clause, though either side could raise exceptional circumstances through normal dispute procedures. It considered the unions' request for a review facility reasonable if statutory redundancy arrangements changed; the company did not accept that a change would justify altering an agreement. The parties were the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers' Union.
