In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Gypsum Industries Limited match employee contributions to its Employee Share Ownership Scheme up to €500 per annum. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union brought the claim on behalf of about 140 workers. The dispute arose during changes to pay, overtime and shift work under a development plan. The Court said both sides needed to continue working on its implementation and recommended the contribution in recognition of the union’s commitment and co-operation. Its recommendation was dated 7 October 2002.
