In 2002, the Labour Court recommended reinstating and updating pay rates proposed by Powerscreen in March 2001, with workers on higher rates retaining them personally. It recommended deferring consideration of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s pension and sick-pay claim, subject to a satisfactory resolution of the pay issue. The union represented 62 employees at the Kilbeggan facility. It said the pay system did not reflect service or skill and sought pension and sick-pay schemes. Powerscreen cited difficult trading conditions and said the additional costs could endanger jobs. The recommendation was dated 3 October 2002.
