Labour Court recommends pay, shift-handover and leave changes for 800 Wyeth Medica workers

In 2002, the Labour Court recommended changes to pay, shift handover and annual leave for 800 workers at Wyeth Medica. It recommended the company’s original proposed pay rates, updated for relevant PPF phases, and proposed cutting the grace period before shift-handover payment from eight minutes to three. It also recommended one additional leave day in 2002/2003 and two in 2003/2004.

The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought changes to pay and conditions after negotiations dating from 1998. The Court considered the jointly developed package reasonable, but did not consider the union’s proposed system for comparing pay with other employers practicable or appropriate. The recommendation was dated 30 September 2002.
