The Labour Court recommended that Mid-Western Health Board pay the repair costs for two Public Health Nurses’ cars damaged while they were on duty and clarify the relevant agreement. The recommendation was dated 26 September 2002. The nurses, represented by the Irish Nurses Organisation, sought reimbursement under an agreement covering property damage while nurses were engaged in their duties. The Board disputed liability and said the incidents did not occur during immunisation duties. The Court found the agreement was open to misinterpretation on compensation for property damage and recommended clarifying how it applied.
