In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Skylon Hotel increase lump sums for staff affected by changes after the hotel discontinued its lunch service. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union represented the workers. The Court recommended lump sums ranging from €750 to €1,200, up from offers of €500 to €800. It also suggested the company consider a negotiated exit package for staff unable to adapt to the new arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 26 September 2002.
