The Labour Court recommended that the Southern Health Board and the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union agree a payment for the designated electrician carrying Bleep 133 when no foreman was rostered. The recommendation was dated 18 September 2002. The union sought a 20% allowance for electricians carrying the bleep outside normal shift hours. The Court said the existing allowance applied when a foreman missed a normal shift because of leave, when the electrician assumed the foreman's full responsibilities. It said the 20% allowance was not appropriate when no foreman was rostered, but recommended the parties agree a value for the bleep-carrying duty in those circumstances.
