The Labour Court found that With Taste Banqueting Services did not victimise a casual banqueting waiter who said he was denied shifts after acting as a spokesperson for colleagues. The Court dated its recommendation 30 August 2002. The company said he had been selective about shifts and unavailable after 6 December 2001. It attributed the lack of work in February and March to slow business, saying available shifts went to staff who had prioritised the company in December. The Court noted that the employer spoke highly of the worker and would have offered him work again when business improved.
