In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that An Oige pay a worker an additional €2,788 as part of a severance settlement after a hostel closed. The recommendation was dated 12 July 2002. An Oige said it could not afford more than its offer of €1,270 ex-gratia alongside statutory redundancy of €4,058, and cited an operating loss of €240,000. The union sought statutory entitlements plus €27,934, citing the worker's 22 years of service and seven-day on-call work. The Court noted she had been paid as a caretaker after the hostel closed and recommended the additional €2,788 ex-gratia payment, equal to the statutory redundancy payment, on top of the €1,270 already offered.
