In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin (Ucd) and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union reconsider a conciliation proposal over library restructuring. If the proposal remained unacceptable, the Court recommended honouring the 1998 agreement by transferring an assistant librarian from the Architecture Library to levels 2 and ¾ in the Main Library. The recommendation was dated 8 July 2002. The union supported the worker who refused the transfer, saying she had won her post through public competition and the alternatives offered would be a retrograde step. UCD said redeployment was essential to the restructuring agreement, which staff had accepted.
