The Labour Court rejected a claim by the ICTU Group of Unions, Automobile General Engineering and Mechanical Operative (AGEMO) and Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union for compensation for 41 employees affected by roof replacement work at Iarnrod Eireann’s Inchicore Motive Power Shop. The recommendation was signed on 1 July 2002. The unions said staff had worked in poor conditions during the project and sought €38,092.14. The Court said the company brought the work forward in response to staff complaints and was not convinced that the inconvenience merited compensation.
