The Labour Court recommended changes to pilot rosters, rest periods and working conditions after industrial action led Aer Lingus to suspend all services. The dispute concerned how the Aer Lingus Survival Plan should apply to members of Impact/IALPA.
The recommendation, dated 2 June 2002, included revised limits for early duties and rest periods, and referral of certain outstanding individual issues to third-party adjudication within six months of acceptance. Most measures were intended to take immediate effect. The Court said the recommendation was intended to help restore normal working and services while supporting the airline’s viability.
