Labour Court recommends witnesses and questions in Iarnrod Eireann disciplinary hearing

The Labour Court recommended on 9 May 2002 that Iarnrod Eireann take evidence or statements from witnesses nominated by a worker facing disciplinary proceedings, and allow the worker or his representative to ask them questions about their evidence. The hearing was to follow the company’s usual procedure for similar cases. The Amalgamated Transport and General Worker’s Union had alleged that the worker was not allowed to call witnesses or have a nominated colleague represent him after a level-crossing collision at Kiltoom. The company said it was prepared to call the nominated witnesses, and the worker agreed to be bound by the Court’s recommendation.
