In 2002, the Labour Court found Cable And Wireless Global Business Services Limited’s procedures for issuing a written warning to a customer services adviser unjust, unfair and lacking in transparency. The recommendation was dated 3 May 2002. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, had appealed disciplinary action and said the warnings were unwarranted and the process flawed. The company did not attend the hearing, but told the Court in a letter that it had investigated the performance issues and followed its disciplinary process. The Court noted that the warning had expired and the worker was no longer employed by the company.
