Labour Court rejects retrospective ticket-machine allowance claim

In 2002, the Labour Court recommended against a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the National Bus & Rail Union for retrospective Crouzet ticket-machine allowances for ten travelling ticket collectors at Iarnrod Eireann. The recommendation was dated 3 May 2002. The unions said the collectors had been denied the allowance because the machines were not available earlier in Tralee, Mallow and Galway. Iarnrod Eireann said the allowance was payable only when workers operated the machines and that payment arrangements had since been revised. The Court did not recommend concession of the claim.
