The Labour Court recommended that Odlums Group Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree to a seven-day, four-cycle shift system at the company’s three plants. Its recommendation, dated 12 April 2002, included a €19 weekly basic-pay increase for each employee and a €1,587 lead-in payment. The Court also recommended two additional shifts of annual leave in total, compensation equal to twice each employee’s actual loss of overtime earnings, and benchmarking Portarlington operations against Cork and Dublin to assess any pay-rate difference.
