The Labour Court recommended two weeks' pay per year of service for each of seven workers at The Olde Gate Bakery/Order Of Malta, in addition to statutory redundancy already paid. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought enhanced severance; the company said it could not afford more than statutory payments. The Court said more effort should have been made to enhance severance, taking the company's financial difficulties and the workers' long service into account. The recommendation was signed on 21 March 2002.
