In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Carlisle Security Limited pay the 5.5% second phase of the PPF and a further 2% under its revised terms to the workers represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The increases were to be paid from their due dates and calculated on each worker's basic contract rate at that time. The dispute followed a merger that left former Platinum Security employees on higher hourly rates than former Delta Security employees. The union sought an 8% rise for 50 members, while the company said the increases it had made in January followed the relevant Joint Labour Committee agreement and opposed further increases.
