In 2002, the Labour Court recommended further discussions between Tretorn Limited and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union on payment of a 2% Programme for Prosperity and Fairness increase, taking account of the company’s claimed financial and commercial circumstances. If no agreement was reached within a month, the matter could return to the Court. The Court said any issue about a weighing-room operator’s grading should be dealt with through normal procedures and recommended that Tretorn provide facilities for the union to get advice from its industrial engineer. The recommendation was dated 11 March 2002.
