In 2002, the Labour Court did not recommend that C & C Wholesale concede a union claim for pay parity with Showerings. The Court considered the claim precluded under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. The recommendation was signed on 11 March 2002. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that workers doing similar work had lower pay and expenses than some Showerings colleagues. The company said the businesses’ work differed and that granting the claim would increase costs.
