In 2002, the Labour Court did not recommend that Ronanstown Community Childcare Centre pay a €127 Christmas bonus sought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union for eight directly employed workers. The Court did not consider the earlier payments an established employment condition. Its recommendation was signed on 4 March 2002. The union said bonuses had been paid in 1999 and 2000 before being discontinued. Management said the payments were not contractual and that a Christmas party was provided for all workers instead.
