Labour Court recommends recognition for Bank of Ireland's Banking 365 union

In 2002, the Labour Court recommended that Bank Of Ireland (Banking 365) recognise the Irish Bank Officials' Association for employees who were members, including for collective bargaining. The recommendation was dated 27 February 2002. The dispute concerned a proposed clause restricting which comparators could be used in future negotiations. The association sought recognition without restrictive conditions. The employer said Banking 365 differed from branches and needed flexibility to adapt to the market. The Court said the proposed restriction was not appropriate for a recognition agreement. Banking 365 employed about 400 people, with operations predominantly in Tallaght and 50 employees at a newer Kilkenny location.
