The Labour Court recommended an ex-gratia payment of €350 to each of four Iarnrod Eireann workers after finding the company could reasonably have provided temporary accommodation during reconstruction at Connolly Station. The recommendation was dated 18 February 2002. The Transport Salaried Staffs' Association had sought compensation for 15 months of disruption. The Court said refurbishment alone did not justify compensation, but accepted the workers’ representatives’ evidence that alternative accommodation had been promised and not provided. It proposed the payment in full and final settlement of all claims.
