The Labour Court recommended that Tyco Healthcare Ireland Limited include Tullamore setters and craft grades in its efficiency payment scheme once promised new machines were operating. The recommendation was dated 15 February 2002. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought to extend an earlier pay recommendation to about 65 workers. The Court found no basis to restore pay relativities, but said the grades’ contribution to production should be recognised through efficiency payments. It said the current scheme could not accommodate them at that time.
