The Labour Court did not recommend the pay claim brought by the Group Of Unions at Examiner Publications Cork Limited. The recommendation was signed on 7 February 2002. The unions sought retrospective pay and a lump sum, arguing that the 1998 agreement fell short of national agreements. The Court was not satisfied that the agreement’s pay provisions were substantially out of line based on payments made so far. It said the treatment of profit-related payments for pension purposes should be considered in a follow-on agreement.
