The Labour Court recommended that Sanbra Fyffe’s 5 June offer be accepted for pre-1993 staff, along with an immediate pension scheme review and permanent status for temporary employees with at least two years’ service. It recommended no change to the sick-pay scheme. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union and the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union sought a 10% pay rise and changes to sick pay and pensions. Sanbra Fyffe cited serious financial difficulties. The Court said the offer was reasonable in the circumstances. It included £100 for eligible pre-1993 workers changing from cash pay to cheque or credit transfer.
