The Labour Court did not recommend an increase in the maximum salary scale for Irish Life Assurance PLC clerical and administrative staff, in a recommendation dated 22 January 2002. Manufacturing, Science, Finance said the maximum was below market rates for long-serving staff and there were no long-service increments. Irish Life said a 2001 market review found its rates competitive and that performance-related pay allowed faster progression. The Court found the rates were not out of line with the market and the claim breached the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.
