The Labour Court recommended that Tallaght Hospital reconsider its offer to re-employ a temporary, part-time housekeeper at another location, leaving the offer open for four weeks. The recommendation, dated 22 January 2002, followed a union claim that her dismissal was unfair and allegations against her had not been properly investigated.
The hospital said it dismissed her for abusive and threatening language towards a supervisor and failure to cooperate with the disciplinary process. The Court noted she had just returned from maternity leave and had an otherwise good employment record.
