The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers’ Union’s claim for a pay rise for operatives at Kayform Woolfson’s Kilcullen and Bluebell plants. The recommendation was dated 21 January 2002. The union sought €10.16 an hour, against the existing rate of €7.53. Kayform Woolfson said the claim breached the national wage agreement and would cost more than €761,843 a year, excluding increased overtime. The union did not dispute that the claim was precluded by the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.
