In 2002, the Labour Court upheld Crown Equipment’s action in dismissing a worker who refused repeated instructions to attend a meeting with the works manager. The recommendation was dated 3 January 2002. The Amalgamated Engineering And Electrical Union argued that Crown Equipment had bypassed agreed procedures. The company said the meeting was a reasonable work-related instruction. The Court noted that the worker had the opportunity to present his case but chose not to, and found management’s action reasonable.
