In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that John Player & Sons’ CPM mechanics cover absent attendants when needed, while the flexibility issue was discussed further with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The Court did not recommend the union’s claim to raise van drivers’ meal allowance from £5 to £10.75 a day. Its recommendation was signed on 13 November 2001.
