Labour Court recommends options to resolve Jury's Hotel roster dispute

By Niamh Kearney

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court recommended that a telephonist at Jury's Hotel & Towers choose one of three options proposed by the hotel to resolve a dispute over rosters and staffing. The recommendation was dated 26 October 2001. The worker said agreed roster and staffing arrangements had changed without discussion and that complaints about staffing levels had gone unanswered. The company said business demands justified the changes and that discussions had taken place with the union and locally. It also said the worker's roster had not changed and its investigation could not substantiate the complaints. The Court recommended that the worker select one of the three options. If the grievance remained unresolved, it recommended using the internal union and company procedures for any residual complaints.
