The Labour Court did not agree that Guinness Ireland (I.A.B. Breweries, Ballyfermot) had breached an existing agreement by withdrawing up to 10 added years used to calculate pension entitlements. Its recommendation was dated 25 October 2001. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought continued access to the added years for Ballyfermot depot workers considering voluntary redundancy. The Court found that the package was available for a limited period and that the company had clearly said there was no guarantee of voluntary parting terms beyond 2000.
