Labour Court says Cmi / Irish Multichannel has no case to answer on loyalty payment claim

The Labour Court concluded that Cmi / Irish Multichannel did not have a case to answer over the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for loyalty payments for seven technical staff. The recommendation was signed on 19 October 2001. The union said staff had worked unpaid call-outs, weekends and holiday periods and sought equal treatment with workers who had received loyalty payments at other companies. Cmi / Irish Multichannel said any claim should be directed to CMI’s former shareholders and that it had no practice of loyalty payments. The Court said responsibility did not rest with the employer before it.
