The Labour Court recommended that the Public Service Executive Union’s claim for a salary increase for An Post Executive Officers be processed through the Transformation Through Partnership Agreement. The recommendation was signed on 22 October 2001. The union sought to reopen a pay-parity claim, arguing that an earlier 10% increase had been an interim settlement. An Post said the claim was new and that reopening it would disrupt stable industrial relations. The Court considered the claim precluded by the cost-increasing terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, but recommended that it go through the pay and grade review then under way.
