The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Congress of Trade Unions be asked to help resolve a dispute between British Midland Airways and the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union over representing Dublin-based cabin crew. The recommendation was signed on 17 October 2001. The union sought the right to represent and negotiate for its members. The company said it had an exclusive recognition agreement with AEEU/Cabin Crew 89 and that Dublin crew were not a separate negotiating unit. The Court considered the company’s concern about inter-union conflict well founded and recommended ICTU involvement; it did not recommend granting or refusing recognition.
