The Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus’s final productivity proposals for aircraft cleaning staff at Dublin Airport be accepted. The recommendation was dated 21 September 2001. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said Aer Lingus had refused to discuss cost savings and argued that the proposals for the group were worth more than those sought elsewhere in the airline. The company said its measures would improve efficiency and flexibility and could lead to about half the workforce being promoted. The Court found the proposals were in line with those made and accepted by most comparable groups in the airline, and recommended accepting the company’s final position.
