Labour Court recommends Musgraves overtime proposals for holiday pay

In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Musgraves Cash & Carry's proposals on regular and rostered overtime for holiday pay be accepted, with the proposed payments backdated to the publication of the staff handbook in the first quarter of 2000. The recommendation was dated 13 September 2001. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that overtime worked at Christmas and during stocktaking was regular and rostered and should count towards holiday pay. Musgraves Cash & Carry said treating such periodic overtime as regular and rostered was unsustainable and could have serious knock-on effects. The Court noted that the parties had made significant progress in discussions and recommended acceptance of the company's proposals, with payments backdated as stated.
