Labour Court recommends pension indexation in Independent Newspapers redeployment dispute

The Labour Court recommended that Independent Newspapers accept proposals from the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims list in return for the union agreeing to redeployment of permanent ex-production staff into clerical roles. The recommendation was signed on 10 September 2001. It also recommended pension-scheme indexation, subject to reciprocal measures and a 1% employee contribution. If the parties did not reach agreement on the pension scheme within four weeks, they could refer the matter back to the Court for a final recommendation.
