In 2001, the Labour Court recommended that Aer Turas and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union review the company's overdue pay increases at the end of October. The recommendation was signed on 17 August 2001. If they did not agree, the matter could return to the Court. The union sought Programme for Prosperity and Fairness increases for five members. It said increases of 5.5% due in April 2000 and April 2001, and a 2% supplementary payment due in April 2001, had not been paid. It also said employees increased pension contributions by 3.3% while company contributions were in arrears. Aer Turas said financial difficulties prevented payment. The Court noted that the union broadly accepted the company's financial information and concluded full implementation at that time would undermine the firm's economic, commercial and employment circumstances.
